Stop saying "I'm fine" when you're angry doing the dishes.

Dr. Gottman calls this an "invisible bid." You want help but don't ask. Resentment builds because you feel unseen, not because of the chore.

The fix? Make the bid visible. When they ask "Need help?", just say "Yes."

When your kid asks for a snack, they might not be hungry. They might be seeking connection.

Instead of saying "No," try: "Come keep me company."

Watch the hunger vanish when they get the closeness they actually needed.
