The Incredibly Dead Pets of Rex Dexter, by Aaron Reynolds is a hoot. Rex sees dead animals, like his pet chicken, Drumstick. Dead animals who can't move on to pet heaven until their murders are solved. Lots of fun word play and silly situations. Younger middle grade readers will love this one.
