When I was writing the second Malvern #fantasy #novel ten years ago, my protagonist described the mantichore he encountered as 'avian.' Now, I'd be inclined to see it as an avian dinosaur. Malvern, as a man of the early Twentieth Century would know nothing of those. Science has caught up with me. 😉

Ten years ago (2015) we published not only the first of my Cully Beach mysteries but the first of my #fantasy novels set among the Mora, COAST OF SPEARS, Book One of the Malvern Trilogy. Available from Arachis Press (arachispress.com) in print or as free ebooks.

It's not something I'd noted before but in rereading Brideshead Revisited, 'Bridey' comes off as being decidedly autistic.

Three stray horses just came sauntering through my yard. It's not the first time for that sort of thing.

Tell me directions and they'll go in one ear and out the other. Show me a #map and I'll see it in my mind the rest of my life.

I should be #writing rather than re-editing my old stuff but at least I'm doing something, huh?

I can't believe how sore my forearms were from heavy deadlifting. The back or legs I would have expected.

Bluesky Is Clearly Not a Johnny Cash Fan
A user was banned for making a Johnny Cash reference. Where's the dividing line between serious threat and jokey pop culture reference?

Some authors worry about ‘losing their flow’ when drafting. I’ve never had a flow. I’m paddling upstream.

at last, my friend —
you have plodded behind me
all the long day

come walk now at my side
as we finish our journey

beyond the hills
the sun has gone to rest
among the shadows

Could smaller families 'rewild' the planet — and make humans happier?

Looking through one of my older books I noted right on the second page I'd used 'reputably' where I meant 'reputedly.' No one has caught that in the seven years since it was published. There will, of course, be a revised edition. #typo

Better

Yes, I do think I’m better than you
but I won’t say it out loud;
I’ll go about my virtuous ways
and quietly let you be wowed.
For I know I rise head and shoulders
above the common crowd;
my moral superiority
does make me rather proud!

A work of #art must be able to stand on its own, with no knowledge of the concept behind it. One needn’t be in on the joke to appreciate it.

They told me I should seize the day,
grab it before it slipped away;
the day turned and hit me,
it struggled and bit me!
This day I will let go astray.

The great thing about #writing in first person is that any grammar mistakes can be blamed on the fictional narrator.
