I originally wondered if it might be due to the fact that you only become a new voter at a certain point (i.e. at 18), whereas you can die at any age, but did the maths on the cohort and over 6 million babies were born between 1999 and 2007 (turning 18 post Brexit vote)

Whilst I try not to get annoyed by youth slang, the only one that always confuses me is "Out of pocket" - it had a meaning already! There are plenty of phrases that existed for what they are trying to convey! At least make up a new phrase!

Not knowing the place, that comment does make me wonder how does The Harp stays in business. From my experience the Venn diagram overlap of my fellow heritage railwaymen and wine bar attendees is...very slim indeed.

When people ask me to describe LA, I always say "It's a suburb the size of Wales". Very odd city in many ways. The complete lack of a single centre is another; downtown was just offices and was empty at night and weekends, shopping primarily malls, etc.

I have, in the past, attempted to get my alma mater (University of Kent) to adopt a mascot of Atilla to replace their current mascot.

As a former Los Angelino, I think this is very true of LA (though perhaps not other US cities). Its car centric nature really does mean that your exposure to people of other can be very limited.
