this administration is acting to edit out of the First Amendment the right to petition and freedom to speak in opposition or criticism of federal actions, policies and speech. A SCOTUS that allows this will have lost credibility as a constitutional tribunal

an independent prosecutor! but this president argues all prosecution of federal crimes is his to control. will SCOTUS see the fundamental danger of that argument?
February 4, 2026 at 2:16 PM
Isn’t that effectively already required?
February 2, 2026 at 6:15 PM
The administration argues that the masks are never to protect the heavily armed squads. Protect from whom? I believe no state or local law enforcement uses masks. Could the adminisration position be an admission their enforcers are deeply unpopular and viewed as acting like criminals and invaders?

Brazenly requiring support for Trump as a requirement. Has DOJ under any other President had such a requirement? NB he doesn’t mention support for the constitution.

how can ai even be considered as part of regulation writing for new industries and completely novel technologies? indeed, could any ai write appropriate regulations of ai, those who sell it, and those who use it to sell, seduce, recruit, conspire, infiltrate, and even innovate?
January 30, 2026 at 5:06 AM
abuse of process? politics deeply intruding in law enforcement? DOJ compromised? questions that some may ask of the law department of the "law and order" administration

Does Google explain how a user can “take control” other than by exiting the app? And how would exiting the app or even deleting it equate to taking “control” over it?

I can’t imagine the Sec of Transportation going to a “good enough”AI dentist or proctologist
January 27, 2026 at 5:02 AM
that's a strong and seemingly valid point - the administration has directed extensive rhetoric and demands against democratic states and the ICE Assaults and reaching for voter roles hi hand in hand with administration efforts to make voting more difficult.
January 27, 2026 at 3:02 AM
NB. In the first instance, the reaction is by the public, not state or local authorities. So, Mr Vance, why do you think these federal law enforcement are so unpopular in MN?
January 27, 2026 at 2:52 AM
it's only a matter of time before he imposes tariffs on democratic states
January 27, 2026 at 2:46 AM
once a finding, it would set a national precedent
January 27, 2026 at 2:45 AM
injunctions should also be available - when administration is lawless, the federal and state courts have some level of obligation to act at least when a prosecutor or a plaintiff seeks punishment or relief

reminds me of indulgences

query: Does a regulation drafted by a statistical machine comply with the Administrative Procedure Act?
January 27, 2026 at 2:37 AM
that's actually ingenious
January 27, 2026 at 2:31 AM
why aren't law enforcement at all levels barred by federal law from use of some of these? or is Tyger safety of the pinkie irrelevant?
January 27, 2026 at 2:30 AM
long history of what that law is comes across as a deliberate slide into an abyss. That thousands of “law enforcement” are, for all practical purposes, immune from accountability and the government that runs them cannot be forced to rein them in undermines the last vestiges of a social contract.

And then there will be politicians who are only AI and no flesh and blood and voters who are only AIs and the AI superpacs will be lobbying, bribing and misleading other AIs and there will be an economy in which AIs have cut out the human middleman.
January 25, 2026 at 5:14 AM
Please clarify what “Claude may feel that” means. Is it only a way to make Claude use the word “feel” in responses to mislead the user to see a personality and mental process when there is none? I am reminded of chess-playing automatons that did a related deception bec a human made the decisions
January 25, 2026 at 5:10 AM
There would be a good argument that, despite the behavior in this administration, from the pres on down, this language and falsification is completely outside the scope of federal job and doing so on a federal medium doesn’t change that.
January 25, 2026 at 4:44 AM
she didn’t say “differently biased” or “because there is a random element in AI errors and hallucinations AI output would be statistically fairer than live arbitrators who can be distracted by facial expressions, appearance, dialects, race, even a firm handshake.” Would not have helped
January 25, 2026 at 4:30 AM
it's an admission that what they are doing is fishy
