you mentioned "comfort" a number of times, and I think that's right. To expand that I can never understand the obsession with policing/controlling others where it strikes me how maybe even most people objecting are objecting to someone else not objecting. Moreso even than the thing itself.

To me, it shows their cruelty. "i just need help, I didn't do anything wrong, I'm a good person" - well sure, I agree. But why doesn't it apply to black/brown etc etc etc? It's not complicated reasoning so i have to feel it's intentional.

I suspect a couple of things. One is that I don't think Johnson would have ever (and may not still) allow this to even be discussed in the House. The other is, I wonder, if one day someone will come out with "Trump threatened my and my family's safety". Because I'd bet if it came to that, it would.

Something that's worth noting, I think is that outside of specifics (buses), AOC's positions are the same as the majority positions in the country. It always strikes me how much right-wing rank and file are susceptible to simplistic, general terms.

well, i think - if one thinks it through - it comes down to the rising tide of wealth inequality. Within those parameters, white privilege still exists. as I'm sure it does probably for the wealthy. That we want more and deserve more, almost all of us, doesn't make the uneven playing field go away.

Yes, good one. If you were from a foreign country, would you go work in the US or someplace else? Looking at it from an economic standpoint, one thing that people don't realize is that if it makes people think twice, it's damaging to the US. Vacation here, or there? Fuck that, not the US.
