Meaning, during the PS3 era, PS2 games were considered modern enough to be simply ported in HD while now games like Silent Hill 2 and MGS3 get dedicated "modernized" remakes.

Now, there are a bunch of reason why a company would decide to remake a game instead of porting/restoring it to modern plattforms but sellability is a major factor and with that certainly comes the consideration how "playable" (meaning: close to modern sensibilities) a game might be.

Lastly, I do agree that that specific console gen marked a shift in the industry. Gaming today more or less still resembles trends formed in the early 2010s but 360/PS3 are older than these trends and prior came a bunch of games and customs that nobody would ever consider modern by todays standards.

Thridly, we wouldn't see a nostalgic revival of the mid 2000s aesthetic (Frutiger aero/metro etc.) now, if it somehow was still considered modern.

Leute haben halt echt gar keine Standards. Sie sehen Merchandise in Bewegtbild und gehen automatisch voll drauf ab. Ersetz die Mario-Charaktere durch irgendwelche 08/15-Figuren, niemand würde diesen Film jucken.
