More recently the Royal Marines caused a 5 day exercise to have to be reset after 2, as they wiped the floor with their US counterparts

Royal Marines thrashed US Marines in training so badly they asked for a restart
After two months of training and preparation, the Royal Marines forced US troops to surrender halfway into the five-day training exercise in California.

They have ‘mass’ on their side but have repeatedly been run rings round when wargaming against peers.
The Royal Marines caused a 5 day exercise to be reset after less than 2 taking out their US counterparts.
Numerous US carriers have been ‘sunk’ by RAF and Swedish submarines

In reality that may not be far from the truth. Europe will be massively outgunned and surgical strikes by special forces may well be the chosen strategy

It was a Union and your king became our king, not the other way around
I’ll admit the balance of power has altered over the centuries but you were not invaded in the same way the Welsh and Irish were

The US military are pretty much unmatched in their capability to apply overwhelming force and win battles.
They have a terrible track record dealing with guerrilla warfare and occupying. Plus US public have no appetite to take casualties. You don’t need to beat them just send back body bags to win

Nor did Ukraine when it started.
People have short memories, in the early days the Ukrainians were making petrol bombs to defend Kiev. Now they have their own flamingo missiles

See Republic of Ireland for good example of how corporations skew GDP per capita without increasing personal wealth for most of the people

They’re trained to, and will do so when necessary but that’s very different to wanting to.
They know if they shoot someone it will be life changing and they will be subject to significant and detailed analysis of their decision, including possible discipline and prosecution which can last years
December 23, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Maybe it’s lost something in translation but what you’ve written means they’re not just prepared to, if necessary, but they desperately want to shoot someone.

If that’s what you meant then I think we’ve reached a point of agreeing to disagree, as that is simply not the case.

“itching to go and shoot someone cold dead”
December 23, 2025 at 6:34 PM
I’m asking you for some proof to support your assertion that British AFOs are trigger happy.
Look up the number of armed deployments in the last 25 years and compare it to the number of times they’ve actually shot. These are a matter of public record.
December 23, 2025 at 6:30 PM
They would still have to show they had grounds to believe such force was necessary.
December 23, 2025 at 5:42 PM
They. Were. Ordered. To. Stop. Him.

They would all still be personally responsible for any use of force.
The change in policy was a move from targeting the mass (body) to head shots.
This is because this is the only way to stop a suicide bomber from pressing a switch.

That was horrendous but it wasn’t the fault of the AFOs.
It was an intelligence failing which was then compounded by some events that made his behaviour appear suspicious when he was innocent.
There were without doubt failings but the AFOs had honest belief they were dealing with a suicide bomber
December 23, 2025 at 4:43 PM
and that they may be subject to years of scrutiny if they pull the trigger

My main issue was with your assertion that they’re ’itching to shoot someone’
AFOs go through a rigorous selection process, training, and reaccreditation process. They are all too aware of their personal accountability (they can’t be ordered to shoot)

We agree on many things but on this you’re talking nonsense.
Approx 4% of police in England & Wales are authorised to carry a firearm.
Mar ‘24-Mar ‘25 there were 17,249 armed deployments but only fired 4 times (2 the previous year). Hardly trigger happy

THIS
The whole system, including the constitution, electoral process, judiciary (esp Supreme Court), and law enforcement, need complete overhaul.
None of US checks and balances have worked in the face of a man and supporters with no shame

I’ve been receiving medical treatment regularly for the last two years, and never had to provide ID.
I do however already have both an NHS & hospital number.

I wonder if this is for someone not already within the system.
Unfortunately, the UK does have a significant amount of ‘medical tourism’
