It looks like Trump finally found a prosecutor who is willing to go after James Comey: A former insurance lawyer who has never handled a criminal case.

The only way to protect our rights from Trump’s regime is to exercise our rights. Join us to say NO KINGS: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i... #NoKings

The role of teachers "is to teach kids how to think, not what to think,” says @rweingarten.bsky.social in response to the conservative push to influence school curriculum. She says students should be taught a variety of different perspectives so they can become “free thinkers.” #Velshi
President of the American Federation of Teachers: Critical Thinking Is Under Attack
President of the American Federation of Teachers Randi Weingarten warns teachers are under attack as a way to undermine critical thinking in schools. “The framers of this constitution of ours understood that critical thinking was absolutely key to stopping tyrants,” she said. “When you see all these propagandists try to undermine critical thinking, they are trying to stop our kids from being able to understand fact from fiction, to understand disinformation and misinformation.”

Not when one side doesn’t know how to tell the truth!

I know politicians, all politicians stretch the truth to the breaking point, but republicans are promoting lies!

Republicans no longer value truth!

The media is all owned by rightwing billionaires so they aren't going to tell people what is really going on. They just push a slightly less blatant rightwing propaganda than Fox

This should give you a good laugh. I always wondered why dumb people haven't been phased out by evolution until I watched this video. According to Nicole the world needs idiots.

Trump won by not understanding inflation or the economy but saying what voters wanted to hear.

“If we really want the best and the brightest…we need to be recruiting women into the military,” said Fmr. Marine Corps attack pilot and IAVA CEO Dr. Kyleanne Hunter in response to a recent wave of women being removed from military posts. "Women don't just achieve...They excel."
‘Women don't just achieve...They excel’: Fmr. Marine Corps attack pilot
Dr. Kyleanne Hunter, former Marine Corps attack pilot and CEO of Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America, says “women are the fastest growing group of veterans” and “the fastest growing group of people in the military.” But over the past seven months, the Department of Defense has removed top female officers from leadership roles. The rationale behind many of the removals is unclear, but The New York Times reports they were dismissed as part of a campaign to root out diversity, equity and inclusion from the military since Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth arrived at the Pentagon. Hunter says the idea that women are somehow less qualified to serve is absurd. “Throughout military history, going back almost 250 years in this country, women have been serving shoulder to shoulder beside men,” she said. “And they have done this because of their qualifications, because of their ability to achieve.” She added that indicating otherwise, “unfortunately, perpetuates a politicized narrative for women who just raised their hand to serve.”

Protest is an investment: ‘The power of unity is what we need to see right now’
"Throughout American history, people have persisted," says syndicated radio host and author Thom Hartmann. Gloria Browne-Marshall, law professor and author of ‘A Protest History of the United States’ weighs in on why “we have to make protest an investment into generations and people we don’t know” and the various forms of protest and “ways in which we can voice our opinion” can take. "The power of unity is what we need to see right now,” says Browne-Marshall.

A fmr. U.S. Ambassador to Hungary sounded the alarm this week that the U.S. is sliding into Orbán-like authoritarianism. Fascism expert Jason Stanley says some "elites" are normalizing autocracy -- “it's the acceptance of the premises of the Trump administration in order to escape its wrath.”
Ex-Amb. to Hungary warns of U.S. authoritarianism, Prof. Stanley says self-interest is the cause.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary David Pressman issued a glaring warning to Americans in a NYT op-ed about the dangers of acquiescing to what he says are President Trump’s “authoritarian advances.” Noting the parallels with the slide in democracy under Viktor Orbán in Hungary, fascism expert and philosophy professor Jason Stanley says national elites prioritize their individual agendas over the good of the country, “without seeing that what you’re supporting is authoritarianism.”

The Trump Administration’s mass deportation efforts are “running into the brick wall of reality,” says Ray Suarez, after promises to target only violent criminals have made way for broader raids. @caitlindickerson.bsky.social says the Admin’s rhetoric is "reducing people down to a single statistic"
‘The brick wall of reality’: Stephen Miller’s anti-immigrant pitch doesn’t hold up to scrutiny
“What would Los Angeles look like without illegal immigrants,” asked Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to himself on Fox News. He painted an imagined picture of a city with widespread resources, no crime and clean streets. Caitlin Dickerson says Miller’s vision “reads like a fantasy of someone who doesn’t understand economics." Immigrants are crucial to the country’s economics, explains Ray Suarez: “We're pushing down the supply curve on both ends of the continuum…The United States has a 10 story high blinking neon help wanted sign.”
