I was furious about the fact that 36% of voters didn’t show up and I assumed that Liberal laziness (i.e. not a perfect candidate so why should I care), hurt our turnout and lost the election. Then I read this and I’m not sure if a larger turnout would have helped.

I guess we should know what 75% he agreed with? I would also describe myself as a Democratic Capitalist. I am a Socialist for opportunity, but a Capitalist (with guard rails) for outcome.

This is spot on. It’s like people who say they’ll never shop at Target again, regardless if they reinstate their DEI policies. If you don’t allow room for a mea culpa and a change of position, then why would anyone ever be motivated to change?
