For this week's #Sharemondays2026 I am sharing a monochrome image of what I believe were once warehoses along the River Lea.
Late afternoon light illuminates what I belive were once warehouses on the banks of tge River Lea in Hertford. This is at the northern end of the River Lea navigation and the basin in the foreground is a turning point for canal boats. The silhouettes of the castle theatre (now Beam) and an old malt house can be seen in tge roof line.

For this week's #Sharemondays2026 I offer an image of the last of the Christmas lights.
Christmas lights on the outside of a department store in WGC. Residents who live above the store go about their daily lives before the lights are turned off and taken down for another year.

For my first #sharemondays2026 post I offer a photograph "In the Presence of an Icon" taken in the National Portrait Gallery.
The photograph captures a man resting in front of an image of Audrey Hepburn in a costume from My Fair Lady taken by Cecil Beaton in the current exhibition of his work at the National Portrait Gallery. Whilst I had my big camera with me this was taken on my android phone...it's as if it provides a cloak of invisibility in public spaces!

Some nice light on a hospital building caught my eye yesterday afternoon.

For the last #Sharemondays2025 a bit of fun. A photograph of my eldest daughter (in the black top hat) and her friend during their last early morning run together of the year. They certainly turned some heads that morning. A happy new year to one and all. See you on the otherside!

A frosty morning on Waterford Marsh is my entry for this week's competition: #Sharemondays2025
A frosty morning on Waterford Marsh with a man taking his early morning exercise providing scale to the scene. Waterford Marsh is in the Beane valley in rural Hertfordshire just north of the county town. The river Beane is a chalk stream of significant scientific interest and a haven for wildlife The condition of the river has improved in recent years with the reduction of water extraction and the removal of a weirdly at the southern end of the marsh which has improved it's flow.

A mono conversion of the humble source of the New River as it makes its way south into the big smoke. #Sharemondays2025
The New River at sunrise on a morning that promised so much but delivered so little in terms of colour in the sky, hence the mono conversion to make the most of the textures in the image. The New River is a man made channel built to supply drinking water to London from Ware in Hertfordshire.

Sunrise over the tesselated pavement at Eaglehawk Neck on the Tamsman Peninsular at Pirates Bay. One of many beautiful locations in Tasmania, a photographers paradise. Just wish I had more time to explore!

This week for #Sharemondays2025 I offer a photograph titled "The Sails at Dusk". More information in the alt text.
A much photographed architectural icon, the Sydney Opera House overlooks the city's harbour. The roof of the building is constructed to resemble shells or sails in a nod to Sydney's maritime history. In my humble opinion l think the roof looks at its most photogenic at dusk under a cloudy sky just after the floodlights come on which was when this photograph was made.

For this week's #Sharemondays2025 entry I have attempted a multiple exposure in the style of Pep Ventosa. I feel it leaves a lot to be desired...but it was fun to do!
An in camera multiple exposure of an old water storage tank in a disused quarry. Local graffiti artist's work is on display on the riveted shell of tank.

Th Kife Angel, a thoughtful reflection on the lives of many of our young people who feel compelled to carry these weapons. #Sharemondays2025
The Knife Angel is a statue fabricated using knives handed in during the knife amnesty administered by the police. Some 100,000 knives were used to create the statue by sculptor Alfie Bradley which stands approximately 8m tall. The statue is touring the country and is currently in Welwyn Garden City until the end of the month. As impressive as it is, it remains a sad reflection on today's society.

The photograph depicts a moody morning at Balintoy Harbour in Northern Ireland. The sea sweeps in between the black rock of the cliff face and the vibrant sand on the beach.
