He and my Virginia governor are breaking federal law (4 U.S. Code § 7) which says: "The flag shall be flown at half-staff 30 days from the death of the President or a former President." Federal law does not give House Speakers or governors the authority to raise the flag to full staff.

Such a hard thing to share but hopefully recounting this violation will prevent future ones.
