I find it interesting that the surveillance state showed up as a bunch of name brand products and we didn't just welcome it... we paid top dollar for it. Then the stuff we bought turned around and *sold us* to advertisers, the government, and other corporations.

I don't think enough people appreciate that the value of the Washington Post is estimated at around 0.1% ($220MM) of Bezos's worth($230B). That's ONE TENTH of ONE PERCENT.

DaFuq does he care about their financials? They lost $100MM in 2024 while Bezos's net grew by at least $60B in the same year.

Future historians will have the final say, but I'd be unsurprised if they peg the US falling into "Failed State" status in '17 or '18. The FedGov may still look functional from some angles simply due to bureaucratic inertia, but the dead core required for that to continue is unraveling fast.
