I hear it! Especially when you combine the stress of roleplaying with a group of people as a new experience without even having to learn and master the mechanics of a game system on top of it.

Countless times, the promise of a GM has been “Don’t worry about game systems, I’ll teach or explain them to you as we play. Just tell me what you want your character to do.” That gets many reluctant players to the table.
