Bill Watterson taught me what artistic integrity looks like in the world of capitalism. I genuinely think his refusal to merchandize and franchise is much more important than we give it credit for. Calvin and Hobbes remains a standalone work of art, and Watterson remains a mystery. A good thing, imo
