Utterly beholden to lobbyists, staggeringly ignorant and dismissive of the natural world: Rachel Reeves might not look or sound like Donald Trump, but she is behaving very much like him. This government is even more of an ecological hazard than the Tories were.

35 species in St Mellion, SE Cornwall, on a cold and clear night. The temperature dropped to a chilly 8.1c at 1am, rising to 11.1c at 6am. This presumably aberrant Flounced Rustic (Luperina testacea) caused some initial excitement when I turned over the egg-box! #teammoth

It's possible Steve, in cooler (perhaps too cool!), calmer conditions.

67 species in St Mellion, despite a near gale force SE'ly! The wind and clear skies ruined what could have been an exceptional night as most of the moths blew past the lights & over the hedge. Hellula undalis (Old World Webworm) & 11 tiny Vestal the best. Not worth going out from 3:30 for! #teammoth

The wind and bright moon certainly didn't help Martin. Tonight should be decent (despite the wind). I'd expect most of the moths to arrive in the early hours, when the keen SE'ly is supposed to drop off.

Thanks Dave, and sorry to hear that, but yes the last week has been awful. I was switching off at 11pm each night, until things improved on Monday.
