Revolut is a new bank brand in Europe. There are ATMs popping up all over Barcelona.

After my fall travels, I'm coming to the conclusion that the new bank's target market lives in airports.

How many times can you count Revolut in this photo?

In the shadow of Barcelona's cathedral, Fira de Santa Llúcia offers hundreds of shops with Christmas decorations. Don't wait! The fair, in its 239th year, closes on the 23rd of December.

The Christmas tree is up at Barcelona city hall.

City hall itself has a fun projection over its façade.

Gaudi's Casa Batlló is aglow these days with Christmas cheer.

Also, as always, packed with tourists.

This Xurreria at the foot of Gracia has a longer line than I remember seeing before. I like their churros, but I have a feeling the line is the result of Tiktok or Ingstagram.

Christmas shopping in full swing in Barcelona. Between tourists and shoppers, it's slow going in Plaça de Catalunya this weekend.

A good precis of a poor policy. It's another reason Trump shouldn't be near government.

Leave profit to companies. Give them workable regulation and let them figure out profit.

Build alliances for the stability peace and trade offer, not for short-term transactional value.

At a Christmas market in Florence reading an English sign explaining a German beverage, I realized how wonderfully confused European culture is.

Nice to be able to pop over to Siena to hear the Jack Quartet perform tonight.

Barcelona switched on the Christmas lights last night. Even the simplest displays in Raval are festive.

When airlines stop flying, there's trouble brewing.

Trump will act illegally against Venezuela to shore up his political standing.

IMHO, it gives Republicans more reasons to peal away from MAGA. Trump's pledge, after all, was to end wars, not start them.

I have no idea why there are so many photo booths in Barcelona and Europe, but they're everywhere. They are so retro in the selfie age we live in.

I was sad to see Banquette close a few months ago, but intrigued by its replacement, Bodega Lagarra, which opens soon.

Barcelona has a thriving restaurant scene!

As the US has shown, some people want a strongman leader.

Learning history is important to understanding the ways that democracy works better. I have to wonder, though, whether MAGA would go so far as to promote democracy as Spain is doing now.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Franco's death. As the headline says, the dictator died in bed and the dictatorship died in the streets.

It's a reminder that Trump's term ends in 3 years and it will be Americans in the street who have to reconstitute the federal government.

A sign on the door of the Sonder Hotel in Plaça Reial is all the warning guests received that they were on their own for accommodations.

As a friend noted, if Marriott didn't know beforehand about Sonder's demise, there's more to this story than meets the eye.

The quotation marks in the headline mean Europeans don't believe military operations against Venezuela are about drugs.

It's a distraction from Epstein, it's a play for Venezuela's oil, it's an attempt to oust Maduro, it's anything but drugs.

More and more vegan restaurants popping up for sure. Last weekend a pro-vegan contingent protested in front of city hall. This is a big shift in local cuisine!
