Love me some Super Heroes, Movies and anything pop-culture. Somehow stumbled into being a professional Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons.

Thank you 🥰To help lean into this I've gone purely defensive/utility options for my leveled spells. They're is going to have to learn the hard lessons before they start to adapt & grow as a character. Divination Wizard with Hold Person/Sleep to help our Paladin deal with threats until then.

Generally its, "the thing they do better than anyone else" which is traditionally how I've made my characters. My current Wizard character is a niave-to-the-world, bright eyed & optimistic person keen to explore the world, but that naivete is offset by their Arcana expertise. Its a fun contrast.

Phase Inversion Strike is SO good for this character! Someone is going through a stone wall! Haha.

I bet they're going to have a blast throwing people around the battlefield with their different telekinetic options. I'm sure they're also taking the "Iron" 5 cost Heroic Ability to achieve their metal-ness. Kinetic Pulse as a Signature Ability? I'm already in love with this character concept.

A Hakaan Talent? I love this idea. Did you take Forceful as one of your Ancestry traits?

You could probably make this a Complication. Perhaps a similar one to the Anti-Hero where you get points for gaining Hero Tokens to encourage your character to do the heroic thing. Perhaps a Bane on social encounters with anyone who knows you're actually a coward, or something similar?

Depends on what aspects/traditions you're looking to focus on. Have the main quest giver be a child who needs to be reunited with their parents for family, a long distance lover wants you to deliver a present through the pine forest, trying to grab the remaining villagers to huddle together at night

That is true of all aspects of the game, not just its openness. Its also important to recognize that if you're running a game because nobody else will, the players also need to have some level of appreciation of the type of game you want to run.
