I agree with this except for the “it’s hard to see this for what it is” part. IIRC, everyone could see that the emperor had no clothes; the issue was willingness to say out loud what everyone could see.

This awful “customer service” practice, which has become extremely widespread if not universal in tech, is one of the banes of modern existence. It’s both maddening and, effectively, still another transfer of wealth from the many to the few. If they start using AI to fix this, I’ll become a fan.

It will only get worse and worse and worse until he is stopped. That is the essential and unalterable nature of his various lifelong disorders. This was absolutely predictable. Many, including psych professionals sounded the alarm and were largely ignored.

i have been reading Tom Ricks’ “Fighting the Good War” which is a military analysis of the civil rights movement, and one thing that comes abundantly across is that movement leaders and ordinary people made it a practice to refuse to fall into despair and cynicism.
