after a week of biting my fingernails, we're now just 2 days away from the F1 finale

i'm fine with it being either Norris or Piastri

the tiresome braying and moaning about the Jag redesign will intensify with this news.

I'm maybe in the minority, but I really liked the bold design. It's top management with their lousy strategy that have caused this mess, not that fantastic designer

in the time it's taken Sony-Honda Afeela to go from concept to... er... prototype, Xiaomi has launched an EV business, put two models on sale, and racked up a cumulative HALF A MILLION sales

Anyone else stepped back from the Pro to the base iPhone?

Main reason for me: the new Pro is too damn heavy

yes, i've been in the cab of a train while it's moving - i think it was one of the awful diesel trains seen below (not my pic) that were still in use in North Wales well into the late 80s. i was a kid and i even got to operate the horn in a tunnel!

yet more head-scratchingly bad branding from a Chinese automaker - the MG IM5 has no MG badges on it

i know why (because it's actually an SAIC IM car in China), but it's just a nonsensical and unnecessary confusion for folks overseas. just put bloody MG badges on it!

I’m letting this autonomous mini-truck merge but it’s waaaaaay too hesitant

I’m not convinced these are all autonomous. Maybe a lot of remote control going on as well?

i'm not much into sci-fi, but Pluribus is really good

made by Breaking Bad's creator, it's a cheeky twist on the usual Twilight Zone-esque vibes

it's taken ~24 hours for a cheap clone of the Apple / Issey Miyake $230 knitted iPhone bag to appear on Taobao

promises to ship within 15 days. 75.5 RMB = US$10

i know it's just using an Apple image, but that's inevitable as they haven't started to manufacture the clone yet. so tempted to buy!

Tesla just had its worst month for several years in China. October local sales were just 26,006 - akin to late-pandemic levels in 2022

YTD 2025: -8.4%

indeed, with just 26k, Tesla China had a slower month than many local EV startups, such as Nio (40,397) and Xpeng (42,013).

Maserati is in a death spiral in China, with dealerships and local media showing ~50% discounts on the Maserati Grecale SUV, bringing the price down to just US$49k (dealer ad, below left, indicates 358,800 RMB)

Maserati China sales 2017: 14,000+
Maserati China sales 2024: 1,228

Chinese automaker Xpeng just showed of its humanoid robot. ignoring the apparent pointlessness of humanoid robots, i'm kinda alarmed by a company full of dudes giving into a corset-esque waistline and robo-tiddies

creepy

Tesla is close to being wiped out in Germany, selling a meagre 750 cars in the past month. it used to sell thousands and thousands per month. in fact, at its peak, it sold 9,500+ per month in the country!

Mercedes is replacing its disastrously overpriced EQC, which was a total flop, with the *even more expensive* GLC EV

insane

US$82k or €71k is way too much for a C-Class, which ought to start at just over half that amount
