Yeah! I had a listen to Wishing On A Star the other day. At the time I was annoyed at sort of catching it in passing and feeling I was missing something. It’s in the Smith & Mighty Walk On mould isn’t it? See also Only Love Can Break You Heart and Dub Be Good… Any other covers in a UK hip-hop style?

I’d like there to have been third example of a female UK hip-hop duo sampling an indie band though. If only Lazy & Lisa had got Coldcut to sort out a jam with The Fall instead of dissing Derek B

Part of the Ruthless Rap Assassins expanded universe Kiss AMC were liking indie rock and bands with weird names which seemed a very clever move for uk hip-hop which was too often in thrall to the US at this point. Soho repeated the trick with Hippychick to greater success in the states a year later

Do Krush count? I heard recently they were scuppered by a knob-head manager trying make Ruth Joy’s solo career work but messing it all up for everyone. He was run out of town (Sheffield) eventually!
