I tell stories for the back-row sitters, the outsiders. If you’re church hurt, life damaged, or a spiritual misfit, these are stories you’ll love. stevendthomas.substack.com
Writing gritty faith fiction feels like walking into church hungover, broke, and wondering if any notices…we’re all in this together.
“That Other Flock” for when you want to feel something. #flawedfaithfiction stevendthomas.substack.com

This is Hamilton (aka Hammy) who just bounded through the living room in a joyful, totally non-threatening pounce at Trixie the cat. I nearly cried from a burst of second-hand joy. It’s been that kinda day. I hope you have a dog…or in desperate times, a cat. #dogsofbluesky #justst

When someone crosses my mind I’ve been reaching out with a text or an email. It’s amazing what happens.

Let’s keep reminding everyone of the power of books.
“Without books the development of civilization would have been impossible. They are the engines of change, windows on the world, ‘Lighthouses’ as the poet said ‘erected in the sea of time.’” —Arthur Schopenhauer

Here’s my mental health recommendation: News Sober! I irregularly scan headlines but don’t read any news that’s not art, fiction, poetry, F1, NFL, or spiritual/philosophy related. And guess what? Anxiety and doom scrolling drastically reduced. Do miss stuff? Yup. Do I miss anything important? No.

This is a little thing I’m playing with. If you are an outsider, uncomfortable with church, but think Jesus is interesting…you might like it. Gritty, PG13, inspirational short fiction. open.substack.com/pub/stevendt...
