I love Bowie's vocals on the soundtrack more than on the Let's Dance version. And the film was so hot for a teenager in the 80s, not sure it still stands up today 😆

FIRST exposure to Simple Minds was a friend's gold marbled New Gold Dream (loved). 2 releases later, their sound is less New Wave, still great.

Great 1985 US pressing. No noise, great mastering, good bass. This is on repeat.

73 is a rarity, an early RR recording that was something of an accident. 5 veteran musicians doing what they did best, not fiery, just masterful jazz.

Norvo is my new favorite vibraphonist and this is a stellar recording, lovely.

I have a Verve compilation with Hawkins & Ben Webster, and a Hawkins "At Newport" which I really love.

Dad's turntable back in the 70s/80s was a linear tracking Harmon Kardon so I'm familiar :)

Suggested to me as the "greatest jazz vocal album ever"

Love this! Vaughan right in the midst of a hard-bop group, not lush or orchestrated. Improvises like a horn player! Clifford Brown’s interplay with Sarah is magic and the band is full of legends.
