One reason Tories lost in 2024 was the awful state of the NHS. They badly need to fess up & say how they plan not to f*ck it up next time.

All we got yesterday:

"In the NHS, industrial action has kept waiting lists high for far too long. Enough is enough. We will ban doctors from going on strike."

Steve knows his onions, this’ll be typically insightful.
But considering the absolute shower of headlines this morning, I think I already know the answer

Robert Jenrick is a poor speaker.. too obviously over rehearsed and maannered..bad jokes…silly shallow arguments.. ‘four blondes’..reminds me of when Michael Portillo pretended to be a ‘strong’ potential leader by absurdly invoking SAS…all feels so weird.

I discovered Steve's "Rock 'n' Roll Politics" podcast recently. Unusual in that it's just him, not a group discussion, ZooTV, or other cacophony, and my main takeaway from this is if you're into politics and not listening to this, you're missing out. Deeply insightful.

I’m not sure it reflects all that well on Mason that the most aggressive interview he’s managed with a politician in quite some time is in defence of his own journalism.

It’s also a fairly extraordinary attack to make in response to a fairly mild critique. Not sure his judgment on the money here.

There should be a high bar for politicians attacking the media, but maybe Ed Davey has half a point here?

For example, the first three paragraphs of this BBC story repeat Reform's £243bn figure without saying that the thinktank behind the estimate now disowns it. (This is mentioned in paragraph 35)
