Lol - I required 3 posts. Anyway - I appreciate your perspective and agree that this does detract from having comfortable waiting space. Thanks for pointing that out.

The tricky thing from a train ops standpoint is what do you do when everyone is waiting on the station platform and (for whatever reason) the train has to use the other track? Which happens more than occasionally. Now everyone is scrambling to go down around and up. (2/3)

Fair point on having access to waiting indoors, and I agree this is a downgrade in that regard. But even at South Station you’re at the end of the track (not next to it) and then have to make your way down the platform. (1/2)

I’m not understanding what the issue is. It’s actually more convenient for all trains to board from the same (center) platform. What am I missing? It’s a little sad that it makes the second floor of Union Station irrelevant, but functionally this is better.

Good experience home too. Once again on time.

In Worcester, 16% of households lack access to a private automobile. That’s entire households, not individuals. In central Worcester that share is 38%.

Looking only at rental households city-wide, 29% do not have motor vehicles.

This was reported in the Worcester Mobility Action Plan (pg 16).

For the record, 37 min door to door by bus/walk. Not bad. Biking was 15 min inbound, 20 min home (hills!). Driving is usually 12 to 15 min, but can be longer on days with more traffic congestion.

But more frequent service is needed to make it a truly convenient option. And that requires higher funding levels to deploy additional service hours.

Also, hub and spoke works fine for my destination today, but can be really inefficient for others (2/2)

Commuting by WRTA this morning. Bus was on time and fare free - Can’t beat that! Have a bit of a walk from the hub to work, but it’s a perfect morning for it. (1/2) #WeekWithoutDriving

Now that’s how you do it!

Not much bike infrastructure on my route, unfortunately. On many streets, even a simple striped bike lane would help significantly by defining space for cyclists. Busier and faster streets need separated/protected lanes though. (2/2)

Beautiful day to commute by bike. 15 min door to door mostly along Pleasant St, which is just about the same as it takes by car. Evening return is always a bit rougher…heavier traffic and less patient drivers. (1/2).

Didn’t realize ASU was playing tonight. TCU is good, but…yeah.

Going to BC-Cal tomorrow, which means I’ll miss UW-Ohio St o tv. which is probably a good thing…

I’m going to be that one guy in Fenway during the playoffs wearing a Mariners cap. 😬

(100% root for the Sox otherwise. Well, except when they’re playing SF).

It almost makes up for me not being aware enough to see pre-Nevermind Nirvana playing the Student Union (and getting banned from campus).

Just because this gives me the opportunity to tell the story…used to see this distinctive looking dude hanging out on the Ave (University Ave) almost every day walking to or from class in college. Only when I saw Rusty Cage on MTV did I realize it was Kim Thayil.

West Boylston vs North early afternoon followed by Leicester vs Burncoat. Second game started around 3:00.

100%. One of my favorite things about living nearby. I usually try to look up the good bands, lol. Haven’t figured out who was playing this afternoon yet.

It is 100% a trick question for New Englanders.

There are sidewalk improvements associated with the development on Grafton St, and separately the School District and City are constructing sidewalks and improved crosswalks on portions of Sunderland this summer/fall. It’s a good start, but there are still challenges on both streets.

I’m from Seattle, so you’re killing me, but there are several Pixies, Breeders, Throwing Muses, Belly, Lemonheads and Juliana Hatfield contenders here. #Boston
