Wow! They are from Reading. I’m in Newbury.

First time I’ve heard of this band. Love the song. Will listen to more.

It’s not asylum seekers dividing the country, it’s Farage and Robinson etc.

They say it’s because we didn’t “go WTO”.

Oh glad I’m not the only one that gave up on The Residence. It’s almost like giving up on a book when I ditch a series several episodes in.

Labour’s bigger problem is losing votes to Green & Lib Dem. Not to Reform.
October 17, 2025 at 7:28 AM
By refusing to point out the positives and necessity of immigration, by not taking on Reform properly for fear of upsetting people that would never vote Labour anyway. Middle England can be swayed to see sense, but most Reform die hards are racist and aren’t worth the effort.

It is pandering to Reform voters though.

Thank you.

I will investigate. I didn’t think I’d enjoy David Nicholls, but the Coast to Coast plot line attracted me and I’ve now just finished Sweet sorrow, so that’s all of his books read! On the subject of books on walking, I’m still not over the Raynor Winn thing, I told everyone I knew to read Salt Path

I’ve been scrolling through your posts to find some more of your book recommendations. I’ve read Owen Meany and everything else by John Irving, but I’ll order some of the others. I read the latest David Nichols and a couple of others from one of your lists a few months ago and enjoyed all. Thank you

Yes, but not necessarily sexist. For example what if Theresa May’s husband became Governor of the Bank of England. The press may well lead with “Theresa May’s husband lands top job at the Bank”. But in the case of the quoted example there’s absolutely no reason at all. It’s Gilead levels of sexism.

Which is doubly weird because who’s heard of him??

I think a lot of their voters are racist. I don’t think you could say ALL of them are. A lot of people that voted Brexit are racists, but they weren’t all racists.

Maybe it’s just me, but after the first series out two, I felt Peaky Blinders became a bit style over substance. I’ll give House of Guinness a try though.

Interesting. I’ve always had the same view but my 23 year old son kept on for months for me to go with him to the driving range. I did and was ok at it. I’m getting deeper into it. Most players are blue collar from what I’ve seen. I’m 62 by the way so this is still something I’m processing. 😂

I’ve reported vile comments on Facebook including a direct threat of violence to me. Nothing gets removed.

The irony is that Brexit meant more brown faces as our cheap labour could no longer come from Europe.

I said out loud “about fucking time”. He needs to steal the narrative back. Daily press conferences from Downing Street talking about positive things and rubbishing reform lies
September 14, 2025 at 6:43 PM
I don’t think the average Reform voter would care how it was done or who the deal was done with out what happened to the people that are returned. All they care about is getting rid of the “illegals”.

My mum is 87. Voted Labour all her life, but is saying “there’s too many coming over”, angry over Angela Raynor and angry about winter fuel. It’s what she reads on “the phone” and sees on TV. BTW, no social media at all. All mainstream media pushing anti Labour messaging.

First account I’ve blocked. Dickhead.

I’d say it’s an accurate description of how the court case is covered in the book. No detail is given. Have you read it? But I’ve read the article properly now and I feel I’ve been “had”. I was in love with the book and met Raynor at a book festival. I’m disappointed.
July 7, 2025 at 4:21 AM
I absolutely loved the book and took everything at face value. I went to a talk by Raynor a few years ago and had a chat with her. I’ve bought everything since. I’m pretty shocked.
