I’m hoping to have a combined sale of paintings and pottery along with my wife in Calgary this fall. I figured I might need to have some smaller pieces available so I built a bunch of frames for small paintings I’ve completed over the last little while.

I think this one is done. I am fascinated by industry and factories at night but haven’t tried painting them until now. I might have to make a series of these.

I love a good hike through the Forest. I found that a photo rarely can recreate that amazing feeling of being deep in the trees, with sunlight dappling through to the ground. But with a painting, I can create the impression of what it felt like to be out in nature.

Painting outside is hard. The wind blows everything everywhere, the sun is in your eyes, it’s hard to tell what colour a thing is or how big to make it. But at least your outside.
Only need about 9980 more hours of this and I’ll have it mastered.

Olive Lake. Oil & acrylic on panel with a handmade maple floater frame. I make the frames for most of my paintings myself. It’s nice to have an excuse to do some woodworking.
