A great read very entertaining . I love the historical and movie references..
A look back at the Sharks and a look forward at the Bulls. A mention of Die Hard and James Lang, possibly unrelated.

As America reverts to a more distant historic strategic posture then we must revert to ours. Defending our island by building alliances with friends on the continent to defeat those who seek to dominate us.

We’ve done it for 500 years. We’ve got this.

The language politicians use in these times has to be tempered. I always thought that many used extremist language to make ‘their name and fame’ by stirring up passionate feelings of frustration, hate, and envy. Fortunes made through discord. Terrible thank you @danirowley.bsky.social
I once interrupted Michael Gove during a big speech from the dispatch box in Parliament. The Speaker was angry because it wasn’t actually a point of order. I did it because his speech was dangerous, designed to stoke anger and hate, which often lead to violence. This needs to be taken seriously.

Hopefully the UK child poverty review will recommend scrapping the cap across the UK!

To think that mankind has only been present on Earth/Gaia for 2.8 - 3 Million Years and recorded history is roughly 5,000 years. What proportion of our History has been lost and is waiting to be discovered again?
Blows my mind that Tacitus’ Annals only survived thanks to a single manuscript. Or rather two. The only copy of the first half was saved in a monastery in Germany and the only copy of the second half was in Monte Cassino. That’s how fine the thread that links us to our history.
