I’m very sorry to hear that. Genuinely. I have had a daughter hospitalized for suicidal thoughts as well. These conversations with folks like you have changed the way I look at things quite a bit.

I don’t either. As a father of 5 (3 daughters) I can’t imagine the fear and frustration that would have on me as a parent and more so my child. I’m sorry you two have had to go through that.

Thats a thoughtful and understandable opinion. Before this conversation I was DEFINITELY on the “on a whim, when my son identifies as a woman we will get her surgery and hormone treatments” thought process. Your stance and explanation has definitely changed that.

Yes. I understand. It’s just hard for me to get behind life changing and often times permanent treatment for a child. I could totally understand feeling this way but just like most other adult decisions you must be an adult to make them. Idc about adults deciding to get treatment but children?

You mean gender-affirming medical treatments? I’m sorry but these are elective procedures. Not medical care or medical treatment. Same as a boob job or lipo. If a doctor isn’t comfortable with it then he or she is not required to perform an elected surgery and that is their right as a physician.

Why is it that with this topic it’s a my way or the highway. Can’t have an outlook from both sides respected. If you don’t agree then you’re a bigot. If you do then you’re praised. People are just scared to voice their oppositions because their opinions are not welcome on this topic
