But there are legitimate reasons to use them. It's more secure for employees working remotely to use them, and companies in other countries have no obligation to check who is connecting to them.

I think you misunderstand the tabloids. They write about things their proprietors want them too, not the readers. While Harry is taking them to court and making their lives uncomfortable, they'll print stuff about the couple.
