I think I decided. I will be moving my #fosstodon account here. There are still some technical preparations I need to do, and some research. My goal is to migrate my Fosstodon account into this one. I hope migrating an account into another that has existed for some time is not a problem? I […]

New blog post!

Continuing on the topic of Nextcloud, this time I talk about generating TLS certificates with the use of Tailscale. This allows me to have a proper HTTPS connection when accessing Nextcloud with Tailscale. No more browsers complaining that the connection is insecure. And this […]

Did anyone ever try to move a GoToSocial instance between servers? I want to switch VPS providers, and move my GTS from one server to another, preferably not losing any data in the process. Can it cause problems with federation? My GTS instance uses a SQLite DB and an nginx reverse proxy […]

Regarding the fosstodon fallout. A recap of what I got so far:
1. A fosstodon mod, @[email protected], appears to be a nazi
2. The site owner, @mike, ignores concerns raised, states "we don't have a nazi mod”
3. Fediverse explodes at this, several instance admins announce to defederate […]

Where to jump from #fosstodon ? I'm considering floss.social or hachyderm.io so far

Wow, now I like Tailscale even more.

Tailscale allows to generate TLS certificated for services available only in their tailnet. I generated a TLS cert for my private Nextcloud and now I longer those "insecure connection" warnings in the browser.

I need to write it down in a blog post

I got my propaganda, I got revisionism
I got my violence in hi-def ultra-realism
All a part of this great nation
I got my fist, I got my plan, I got survivalism

Hypnotic sound of sirens echoing through the street
The cocking of the rifles, the marching of the feet
You see your world on fire […]

Hey crew, I have a few lightly used spark plugs from a car. Any ideas how I might use them in a fun project?

Hmm, looks like Amarok does not like playing music over NFS? Buffering with a 1G wired connection?

Random useful linux CLI thing I just learnt.

If you don't want to see all that lengthy text after sshing to a machine, just do

touch ~/.hushlogin

on the machine you are sshing to. Now there won't be any messages to clutter your terminal.

#linux #bash #ssh

This is a windmill made by my grandfather from some scrap wood. He says the vibrations scare the moles out of the allotment. Looks like it's working, there were no mole hills in sight.

I also have a third VPS which I use solely as a DNS server with PiHole. Does it make sense to also merge that one and have pihole on the same server that will host my blog and GTS? Opinions?

I'm getting ready for my future house. By that I mean that I bought a second-hand, totally overkill, rack mountable, 11 port router from Mikrotik, it's the RB3011UiAS-RM, and it's massive

Now the only question is: Will I be able to configure it? 😂 […]

Sigh, why do I have to live in such a far-right prevailing, theocratic country?

The soccer lining is that the two left-wing presidential candidates in the upcoming elections have together around 10% of the vote in the polls, which is impressively high in comparison to previous elections.

Impressed with how easy (and cheap) it was to upgrade my NextCloud instance with @hetzner

1TB for €5/mo is pretty sweet!

OK, that surprised me, I did not expect that outcome. I assumed all() for an empty list will return False? And it explains why my code was not doing what I wanted xD
