"It suits you, really. I love it," Steve says, smiling at him. Eddie smiles back but then his gaze drifts down to the curve of Steve's, peppered with bruises in the shape of fingerprints. Steve likes it when Eddie watches him. He likes that Eddie's beautiful brown eyes go just a shade darker, like the light around a match just before it's lit.

"—sorry," Eddie says, shaking his head like he's shaking the thread of his gaze loose. "It's just you have—"

"Oh, these?" Steve says, pulling up his sweater and pushing down his jeans a little bit. "These are yours."

"Are they?" Eddie asks, like he doesn't quite believe him.

"Yeah," Steve says, crawling forward on his knees until he's within arm's reach. "Put your hand here."

Eddie puts his hand along the bruises and his brow lifts just a little in surprise when he realises that it's true. He presses on Steve's bruises just a little and Steve loves to be reminded of the ache of it.

"Hm," Eddie says, his eyes still on Steve's hip. His expression is hard to read. Steve longs to know what he's thinking, even if the last thing he should be doing is yearning for a guy he met today.

But something happened in his studio, in that bed. He felt it. And he wonders if Eddie felt it, too.
