Our most popular book this week has been this little beauty and we are able to have lots of wonderful copies thanks to the super folks at @readforgood.bsky.social who donated copies to our library! Thank you from this librarian and our happy readers.

What have you been doing for #DyslexiaAwarenessWeekScotland? We have posters in the library explaining dyslexia for those who are unsure and we bought some great new Dyslexia Friendly titles for our pupils. #Booksareforeveryone #therighbookfortherightpupil #schoollibraries

Just finished this incredible book. I knew a little bit about Josephine Baker but Dance of Resistance does an incredible job of packing in the life story of a woman we can only wonder at. Catherine Johnson does it again! @barringtonstoke.bsky.social @catwrote.bsky.social

Inspired by Kathleen Jamie and her collective poetry where she outsources lines to make new works. Pupils and staff have been asked for their favourite first lines of books - we will be using these on #NationalPoetryday- inspired by this year's theme of PLAY!

Sorry to say the library will be closed tomorrow but super excited to say I will be off to #BetterWorldBooks for a #GreenLibraries event with @cilipscotland.bsky.social I can't wait to hear about all the green projects & we get a tour of all the delicious books they have. Sounds like a perfect day.

Thank you so much to the lovely people @hachettechildrens.bsky.social for our fantastic book club books. Pupils were so excited to get started and even happier when we said they could keep them.

Great fun lesson with S2 today talking about judging books by their covers and what works and what doesn't. We were wondering about this one.
(maybe turn round?) What is your favourite/ least favourite cover and why?

BEHOLD my Wimpy collection from around the world - I still need more - where should I venture next?

Our new S1 pupils were loving our international Wimpy Kids. Can you name the 6 different languages? I would love some more from around the world - I wonder where next?

Huge thanks to the lovely bookseller from @waterstonesargyle.bsky.social last week - who helped me out when I bought this massive haul from their end of season sale- including what might be my favourite pop up book ever. #libraryhaul #greatbooks

I herald....The LIBRARY! #FantasticReads

Every year I take a note of the books I have read ( mostly because by December I will have forgotten!). This year I am breaking down my reading habits into subgenres and themes. No surprise that fantasy is winning but two books with killer plants? Now that is a surprise!

Thanks so much to Mrs Y in Science for allowing me to help her out with the bees this morning. I was on smoking duty - trying to lull them to sleep. Not your typical day in the library but lots of fun and so interesting!

Next read for the summer is the final book in The Blind Bowman series #WildwoodRising. Can't wait to find out how this trilogy is resolved, though will be sad to leave Robin Hood, Marian & the gang behind (not the Sheriff or Guy of Gisbourne as they are baddies) #EPIC @dfbstoryhouse.bsky.social

Brilliant to have two more schools from different authorities signing up to be #CodeRead schools next year. This means more reading, more books and more brilliant opportunities for school librarians and Computing Science teachers to work together. #GettingReadersCodingandCodersReading

Excited to get S3 pupils back into reading before summer. Passport 2 Pages aims to tailor the reading experience as close to the reader as possible whilst acknowledging the roles that the librarian, teacher, pupil & parents & carers have to play. First stop the Reading Contract.
