Every time a line is crossed without any consequences, the rule of law and constitutional norms become less and less meaningful and substantial. The less weight they have, the more the fascists in our government are emboldened to act like the Constitution and the rule of law doesn't exist.

Agreed. We should be "running" our own country first.
It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.
