I think if I could do one thing it would be the ending of hyper consumerism. Between my growing up, my environmental science degree, and my love of actual human connection I think the loss of hyper consumerism is the only way to save us all.

So with another open heart surgery on the horizon for my toddler does anyone have any ideas on affordable health insurance? With Speaker Johnson and Trump running the circus I’m a little afraid that this will break what little our family has left in savings.

This is the current feels today. I thought winter was supposed to be a time of rest but with 20 degrees over the average it feels like I have to get stuff done.

today I get to go do an orientation at a birds of prey rehabilitation center. I am super excited to learn more about animal rescue and how to make an impact in our world.

This song has been on repeat for me the last couple days. Not sure if it is the simplicity of the lyrics or the catchy melody. Whatever it is I had to share. youtu.be/PKBgCeCxks4?...

Is it the weather or is it the lack of sleep? I have a light head and slight vertigo today and it kind of sucks. Wish me luck on this editing day today.

Why are gendered words and possessives so difficult in Slavic languages.

Мій моя і моє

All mean the same darn thing depending on the word that follows. My anglophone brain is breaking.

editing is way harder than it should be today. I am about half way through a ten minute video and have reached the point of not wanting to edit any farther. Problem is if I release as is, half the video will look great, the other half will look like it was edited two years ago.

Feel like this may have to be my new profile picture, for no real reason other than I look awesome in this light.

Been putting together a series of videos about finding nature even when you feel stuck in a city. It has been a lot of fun to brainstorm ideas. My favorite so far? Finding the wildflowers that push up through the sidewalks. A really fun way of thinking.

Went to a funeral today and for some reason the outfit I chose to wear gives either major Monty Python vibes or major evil English literature professor from a bad movie vibes.

I know this whole building a YouTube channel is worth it but after two years I really am ready for a freaking win. Just one win, that is all I’m asking for.

Been spending a huge amount of time in the video game “Tales of the Shire” and realize how amazing the world would be if we settled disputes through gardening clubs, cooking meals for our neighbors, and just enjoying strolls in the countryside. I wish I were a hobbit.

I started learning Gaelic because I wanted to connect to my heritage, I now understand that it is actually a secret power to allow me to read most fantasy names and constructed languages in fantasy setting without stumbling over names. I now know why a lot of native speakers hate modern fantasy.

watched the new Superman movie last night. I think it did better than most of the new DC films but it is still not at the level of Marvel studios. I did enjoy the story and the acting was great, there were just moments where the film fell off for me.

When I grow up I want to be like Granddad in Bluey. That guy has got it all and is not bogged down by the worries of modern life and technology.

balancing running a custom world DnD campaign, growing a small independent business, and learning how to produce content for YouTube has been quite the journey. I am really enjoying this so far.

got to swing dance with my dance studio manager last night at a party. Always a good time when the manager/head instructor at the end says, "wow you are a really good dancer, I can't believe we haven't danced together before."

Well ma'am thank you for your amazing staff that has taught me.

highlight of my science career was working on a prairie restoration project to return bison to Colorado. I loved the field work and the lab work as we studied nutrient levels of different prairie locations and how the native animals help with those levels. Really made me appreciate prairie dogs.

there is a small rural museum on the northeast border of Colorado that has a barbed wire display. It looks at how it has evolved from the 1800s through the present with small lengths of the stuff hung on a wall. It really is fascinating, even if it is inherently harmful to wildlife.

In a list of the most important technologies that have shaped the American West, barbed wire would be near the top. It's great for the livestock industry, but can harm wildlife.
Barbed wire fences dot the West. There’s a growing movement to take them down -- for wildlife
Every two and a half miles of barbed wire is responsible for killing one deer, elk or pronghorn a year, one study estimated.

I am waiting patiently for the weekend so I can go out and do some more hiking. I miss just being out and doing my thing without people telling me how to live. Maybe I missed my calling by deciding to live in a city rather than rural America. I crave those wide open spaces as the chicks sing about.

Been looking into exploring different avenues of conservation over the last few days. I really want to find things that I can control rather than react to things that I am unable to. I decided that I was going to start a series of short form videos all about our nature and how amazing it is.

Was given an opportunity to “touch grass” this morning. Ended up going on a 3 mile hike through a wonderful ecological border region. The world really is a magical place.
