I'm trying to set up a Dominions game with some friends, but of course it always ends up like herding cats. Nearly a week in and two haven't even picked a faction yet.

She wears a winged helmet, calf-length turn boots, and a flowing cape billowing behind her as she descends. She is otherwise nude. Set against an abstract background of yellow/orange radiating to brown/purple. Mostly in sketch, only the face and helmet have been fully lined in pencil. Obviously based on the Valkyries fielded by Vanheim in the Middle Era of Dominions. The subtle pointed ears mark her out as an Elf, as the Vanir are portrayed in the game. The pose, facial expression and nude body are based on a work of riding valkyries by Milo Manara.

Well that was much sooner than expected, Valve has Verified Ctesiphon for the Steam Deck! It will now launch using Proton by default which was my recommendation beforehand anyway.

A boxy yellow spaceship with red trim and blue/purple drive plumes against a black starfield. Most of the color in the picture was done with watercolor markers, strategically smudged with a water pen for the stars and drive plume. The ink was done with some india ink artist pens. Some final shading was done with colored pencils. Scanning the drawing in really brought out the strokes from the pen used to fill out the background so the color range was compressed down slightly in Krita.

Tried out doing a value study on this cool picture wikipedia has of a fallen tree in Białowieża Forest. I don't know why I find the idea of Primeval Forest so compelling, someday I really need to go visit.

A colored sketch of a sword babe leaning on a closely-held greatsword almost as tall as she is. Piercing green eyes stare out at the viewer and voluminous hair cascades down her front and back covering up more of her than her meager clothes: a thin loincloth and a slip of fabric over her chest fastened with leather loops. Behind her is a wispy watercolor-looking background in blue and grey. The piece was sketched with pencil and colored with a mix of watered down acrylic inks and black tea, some final lines picked out with a felt-tip pen. Though little reference was used for the pose, the face is modeled off of Neri from trueref.io.

Took a detour to add some frustum culling, there was literally no occlusion checking at all before. Just culling out offscreen debris and enemy animation blending has made enough of a difference for my aging machine to still manage 144Hz for all the important encounters. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev
