Have attitudes towards mental health in Ireland really changed? | Aware Mental Health Week 2025
Have attitudes towards mental health in Ireland really changed? | Aware Mental Health Week 2025
This Aware Mental Health Week (October 6th–12th), we mark 40 years of supporting people living with depression and bipolar disorder - four decades of listening, supporting, educating, and empowering people on their mental health journey. We’re proud of the progress made, but we know there is still much more to do. As part of our campaign this year, we asked people in Ireland a simple but powerful question: Have attitudes towards mental health really changed? Filmed at Heuston Station in Dublin, the video explores how people in Ireland think and talk about mental health - from shifting attitudes to the realities of accessing support when it’s needed. It shines a light on both progress and the challenges that remain: greater openness in conversations, but also gaps in availability and access to timely mental health supports. By listening to the perspectives of people across the country, the video highlights what’s working, what still needs to change, and the importance of continuing the national conversation on mental health and access to services. Visit our campaign page to find resources, support, and ways to take positive steps for your mental health 👉 https://www.aware.ie/mental-health-week/
