Often when I draw I start with something I need to practice. For the left I wanted to work on, pose, costuming, and attitude and this girl showed up. I like to work in two’s and I had no real idea for the right page - it’s a strange one but I love it for its strangeness. #kidlitart #illustration

So far this summer “vacation” I have drawn sketches for 2 children’s picture books totaling 72 pages of illustrations (including covers, title pages, and end papers). I’ve created 5 new high school art classes with a total of 74 projects. To top it off I’ve grown a tomato. #kidlitart #teacherlife

Three years ago I took this photo, which lead to the illustration last year, which lead to me experimenting more with a new style which then lead me to new illustration work. Inspiration hides all around us the trick is to take the time to notice.

Seagulls love sunny summer days.
They laugh and play.
They stretch and soar.
But when the sky darkens to a threatening gray, gulls hunker down preparing for the coming storm.
All but one ….
Hope, she has the courage stand strong and weather the storm, do you? #SEL #skypitch #authorillustrator
