Unfortunately getting treatment for anything is a chore. And if you have mental health issues they will blame those first unless you know exactly how to word it where you can prove it isn't that.

So I totally get his frustration.

I'm not blaming him, just also frustrated.

I knew someone with both and yeaaah. He did not do well.

He's better now, but he always used to tells me to "be glad" I am not ADHD even if I'm coded Neurodivergent.

Yeah medication treatment is the biggest difference.

Wellbutrin and other similar inhibitors are better for MDD - but are usually used if nothing else works for generalized depression.

It was interesting being in the phase between 3 and 5 getting treatment.
