It makes me wish Beamdog made a new original game in the engine as the awkward parts are where it tries to fit between BG 1 and 2. It worked very well as an expansion for BG1 but it doesnt quite fit with how it leads into Shadows of Amn.

Companions actually have a bit of an arc which is welcome, as they are glorifed RTS units in the first game. There are large scale battles and it actually reminds me much more of Icewind Dale 2 than a BG game as its on rails with only a few side paths for optional quests.
