OTHERWISE, despite not achieving the thing I set out to do, had a pleasant time having a plan that actually came together with timing measured in minutes, with friction-free social moments and people trusting each other. Of course I focus on the bad but it went better than average somehow

Just like with how I used to run character creation, people can say what they like but then it has to, like I think you're say, meet the fiction on its terms, which may require negotiation or even a "no" to keep things consistent. Also, "cool" has to pay at least some respect to the shared world

I think it's meant by some to push against the idea that established rules should be a wall that forces players to follow behind the GM, in a sort of systematic railroading that leads to fatalistic and bleak outcomes, discouraging creativity. But on its face it can easily be misused/gamed

I need to revisit it, I wonder if my impressions would change. I remember at the time feeling like it was credulous toward Andre's explorations but maybe that was me expecting the movie to take his side...
