I would probably do at least -1 forward and then if it’s a really bad situation, consider applying a condition from the Spooky playbook’s Dark Side that the player gets to overcome that season or in a future one. Just my two cents though.

Traveler is Rawlsian democracy, but I don’t know if I can prove it.

(Also let’s go with the fifth layer of Hell, where you have to run a table with Nozick, Kropotkin, and Berlin as players. I’ll see you there)

But maybe I’m just salty that folks don’t crave weird shit and instead prefer lo-fi beats to stare at anime big-bobs to. This could be entirely possible.

But maybe try some weird shit, you know? Stuff that confuses you. Stuff that challenges you. Weird isn’t merely a rawrxd I’m so random thing

It gets deeply discouraging as a creator and artist. Now, of course, there is nothing wrong with having a personal taste toward comfortable things. But I think there is an aesthetic diversity crisis quietly happening due to the encroachment of coziness as an enforcement ideology.
December 5, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Combine that with informal physiognomies of the creator economy and elsewise, and you get a gigantic selection against weird media in live-stream spaces. Marketing becomes a practice in overcoming the deep aversion inherent in homogenization. And when you are developing something outside of that?

Now, again, don’t get me wrong: unserious work is important. I love it. But there is a sense where homogenization via coziness as an aesthetic and affective enforcement protocol creates a stagnancy. A re-capitulation of the old cable tv problem: 300 channels and there is nothing on.

This creates the same sort of cliquish behavior that ends up shutting out legitimate artistic and media approaches among amateur and professional creators of a certain level. One can only be serious and engaging if you have a prestige series on HBO or a toxic political streamer.

Using structural critique language as the only means to enforce personal taste and boundaries is…reckless at best. And that is being deeply charitable. But there is a further problem with this line of expectation: homogenization. Both in process and product. Art and media become a pfp generator.
December 5, 2025 at 2:01 PM
This seems like a deeply strange wielding of critique, seemingly originating from the literary criticism from the fan fiction community. (There is nothing wrong with fan fiction, of course, but there is…some deep naïveté in the lit crit there.) 3/?
December 5, 2025 at 2:01 PM
When you critique soft/cozy expectations, the binary reflex kicks in—presumptions about being an edgelord kick in, even accusations of structural violence such as ableism. Which then seems to frame things in the following way: if media or art causes discomfort, is it ableist simpliciter? 2/?

(giant hugs) still a privilege to care for you

This is probably gonna sound conceited—but exploration of a theme. Getting to know a certain facet of experience through imagined scenarios and becoming familiar with its distant intricacies.

Also the color scheme is like that on purpose, that way folks with deuteranopia can still read the text.

Making a role playing game has been a frankly agonizing process. But my hope it will be something special when everything is done. And accessible by mobile web browser.
