Just finished Castle of Otranto. Credited as first Gothic novel. Was a funner read than I was expecting. Lack of paragraphs and dialogue markers was a bit wild though. Onwards to Vathek!

One of the reasons I am a fan of stand alone novels vs series is because the industry is obsessed with every character having an arc if the story calls for it or not. Many times this leads to totally destroying what made the character the character for me.

Frankenstein … quite enjoyed it if I may say so.

Just finished Diviners by Libba Bray. Solid 4 star read for me. Loved how detailed her 1920s setting was. Felt really connected to the characters, right amount of spooky for me. Didn’t like how much the book focused on setting up future books instead of worrying about itself but that’s okay + minor

Really enjoying the Nordic Noir recently. Enjoyed both Äre Murders and Glass Dome.
