Idk man just like sit outside and watch the first big you see and follow it around and think about why an animal with such a simple nervous system would be doing anything you're watching it do
strayhounds.bsky.social
Y'know what same with ppl who disregard insects, there's so many fascinating things about insects and their behavior is so much more complex than we could ever imagine like some insects have the ability to LEARN some insects are able to TEACH things we thought you needed a brain to do!!

Ppl who think freshwater fish are more boring than saltwater fish are missing out on some beautiful and unique animals
strayhounds.bsky.social
I love when zoos and aquariums have sections for native fauna and freshwater fish/amphibians I eat that shit up I heart north American wildlife they could never make me think you're boring

The trifecta of purchases is complete
Close up of T-shirt with Hellbenders, showing 2 hellbender illustrations along with its laying name and the description "America's largest salamander. The eastern hellbender can grow over two feet long and spends its entire life underwater, breathing through loose folds of skin. Found in clean, fast flowing streams, this ancient amphibian is a living fossil and a sign of a healthy ecosystem"

And I fear this is pretty normal also we keep getting ppl moving here from up north and out west bc they think small town Alabama is some christian apocalypse haven and not riddled in meth and gun crime with no jobs and no money and no infrastructure
strayhounds.bsky.social
The local Facebook group is run by a conspiracy theorist, half the group thinks an alien invasion is about to happen, someone's dog got killed and the owner threatened to reveal everyone in town he sold meth to over it, they tried to plan to hide guns in the caves

Well actually flourocarbon can get rly expensive but it's mostly used as a leader with braid so I feel that offsets the cost by a lot... And you don't need to spend that much for good flourocarbon
strayhounds.bsky.social
The most expensive line in spin fishing is gonna be braid and that averages around $30 bucks and here I am looking at $70 fly line bc it's a cute color
strayhounds.bsky.social
They weren't fucking around about how expensive fly line can be holy shit but I guess that makes sense it's not gonna need replacing as often as spin fishing line would

I love watching Gertrude and Chauncey play bc Gertrude will instigate the fight, she's literally grabbing his back fur with her claws as I'm typing this, and then start crying when chasers her back or inevitably just sits on her
strayhounds.bsky.social
I found a podcast of some ppl reading warrior cats for the first time and I rly do love the universal experience of just Knowing ravenpaw and barley are in love
strayhounds.bsky.social
Look at this thing, does it not bring you joy to hold
Large bluegill held gently in an open hand. The body is so dark you can barely see it's stripes while the fishes bottom jaw is a bright blue
strayhounds.bsky.social
I get very emotional when I catch a fish it's exciting every single time, it can bring a lot of joy to you when you're rly in the shit y'know? And you can just enjoy the water and sounds and enjoy life for a minute
strayhounds.bsky.social
If you are looking for a hobby to help you get outside and just stop thinking for a little bit I'm gonna suggest fishing you know I am but seriously dudes whether you spin fish or fly fish you're gonna have a chill time in silence of a river or a lake or a creek or stream
strayhounds.bsky.social
Damn bro God rly said no more joy and is trying to take dolly? Were David Lynch and Jane goodall not enough?
strayhounds.bsky.social
I could like. Wait until bills are done for the month to get the other two that'd give me time to read anyway 🤔
strayhounds.bsky.social
An entirely synthetic fish is finally back in stock after I've been waiting for like 4 months and I'm so torn bc I was gonna get braiding sweetgrass and the serviceberry with this paycheck but I've waited sooooo long for this book 😭

The first time I ever got stung by a bee was when my grandma got my John Cena T-shirt off the clothes line and I put that thing straight on cause it was my fave shirt and a bee that was hiding in it stung me
strayhounds.bsky.social
We're definitely gonna plant and can green beans bc I love them but that also means I have to snap and can beans :/ at least there's pressure cookers that are no where near as frightening as they used to be
strayhounds.bsky.social
That actually sounds like a great idea for a sick food potato soup is always great, the added ingredients sound super good too I'll have to give it a try!
strayhounds.bsky.social

strayhounds.bsky.social
