Here in my part of Fairfax County, it feels like more and more neighbors are quietly struggling to stay afloat — and those pockets of prosperity we used to point to seem fewer and farther between.

It’s truly despicable. Literally millions of Americans count on Medicaid to see a doctor, get medicine, or stay in a nursing home. But Republicans are working overtime to take that away. Kids with disabilities, seniors, and widowed homemakers like my sister will lose the care they need to survive.

He was a giant and a fighter who will be deeply missed.
While I never had the privilege of meeting him personally, I always felt heard and respected through the thoughtful communication I received from him and his office. That kind of attentiveness speaks volumes about the kind of leader he was. Sending love to his family during this difficult time.
