Musk is a moron when it comes to anything outside his extremely narrow fields of expertise, but he’s rich and weird so he gets treated as some sort of omniscient polymath.

Speak for yourself.

If you think that’s bad, you should meet my teacher mate, Mr Six-Seven.
December 5, 2025 at 9:15 PM
Of course you can. There’s yachts that you couldn’t afford to buy with £200m, and the running costs alone are millions per year. Private jets, building rockets, buying elections, paying hush money, commissioning awful artworks - being rich is expensive!

You can get USB-C ones, or USB to 3.5mm adaptors are like $2

If only wired headphones were still widely available for anyone who prefers them. Oh, wait.

“BET ON EVERYTHING” (sorry, I mean “trade” on everything) is the stuff of dystopian nightmares. Just awful.
December 3, 2025 at 11:29 PM
As hot take go, this one isn’t even lukewarm.

Maybe makes economic sense for them, then, but I’m not a taxi driver. My quote with black box is maybe £50-100 lower than without, and that is simply not a trade worth making. The premise I was responding to is that ALL insurers should insist on this technology for ALL policies.
December 3, 2025 at 10:17 AM
Behaving all the time is boring.
December 3, 2025 at 2:16 AM
I’d rather pay more and not give my insurer a mountain of private information.
December 3, 2025 at 2:16 AM
Fast acceleration isn’t prohibited by the Highway Code, but insurers would love to use it as an excuse to jack your premiums. The bigger thing is these trackers share your location, which is a gross invasion of privacy.
December 3, 2025 at 2:14 AM
Oh sorry for assuming you were in the UK - this account is fairly UK-centric. 20-28mph seems much more reasonable to me!
December 2, 2025 at 8:16 PM
Maybe so, but I’d imagine most of that is in the hardening of the device for aircraft (collect from the bottom of the sea after a crash, etc.) - it would be almost negligible cost to add a drive to a car that continuously records a stream of data the car is already collecting.
December 2, 2025 at 8:15 PM
This kind of “black box” insurance is available. The idea of it makes me very uncomfortable. I don’t want my insurer knowing everywhere I’ve been, how many times I’ve sneaked 2mph over the limit, how fast I accelerate off the lights, etc.
December 2, 2025 at 8:11 PM
E-bikes are limited to 25km/h, not mph. That’s about 15.5mph, which is absurdly slow.
December 2, 2025 at 8:08 PM
The good thing about optional extras is they’re optional.
December 2, 2025 at 8:04 PM
A company of that size very likely has network monitoring in place to know exactly who is downloading massive amounts of data to USB. Sounds like a good way to get fired and lose your redundancy package, slapped with a C&D the instant you try to use the data, and potentially prosecuted. Smart move.
December 2, 2025 at 7:59 PM
Shut it ginge.
November 30, 2025 at 9:08 AM
Maybe just do the test then?
November 25, 2025 at 5:36 AM
Fair enough. What a world to live in where folk can get prosecuted for not paying their BBC tax.
November 23, 2025 at 10:41 PM
They’re not the police. They won’t get one ever. They can knock on the door and you can tell them to fix off, then go straight back to watching “illicit” live TV.
November 23, 2025 at 8:45 PM
Not actually a trillionaire yet, though, is he? Tesla needs to hit some pretty outrageous targets for him to get the stock he’s been awarded, although if he manages that then his existing stock would already be worth a trillion, so he could hit $2Tn.
November 23, 2025 at 8:42 PM
If only there were some massive, freely available and easily searched repository of human knowledge that you could access through the same device you used to post this nothing fess.

Knowing SW trains, it’s probably not been cleaned since, so the residue of that piss is now having its own farewell tour. Revel in the triumph.
