idk if this is exactly a common situation but my exact monitor setup means I need certain wayland-exclusive features and certain features that are still x11-exclusive (all of which are available on windows)

I guess the two caveats here would be that piracy requires a few extra steps and I've heard it can be a little weird with Nvidia GPUs (I have AMD so I wouldn't know). Like most Linux driver issues this is Nvidia's fault but it's not like that matters to the user lol

Yeah was just confused bc of the visible scanlines but I guess that's just what it looks like when the camera captures a single interlaced field. Neat!

Yes technically you are always upscaling but doing so via integer scaling or an analog video shader is more "accurate" in the sense that it far more closely resembles the original presentation

ok that's so funny I'm literally reading this reply while setting up Pop OS on my ThinkPad trying to compile a random driver from source off GitHub in order to change my trackpad cursor speed so you know what I'm gonna have to eat my words a little lmao

idk I installed linux mint for the first time this year and it's been the most painless experience I've ever had with an OS. at this point I think Linux just has a reputation from how unfriendly it was like a decade ago

you cannot gain awareness of a specific japanese subculture through any of the context clues here. it becomes a completely different joke in translation

No, because even though that's the etymology of the word, a Japanese speaker hearing "yanki" in that context would not think "American"
Think of it like translating "He's such a barbarian!" into "he's such a non-Greek!" Yes that's the etymological origin but it's still a clear mistranslation

It was in November but moved to October in the '30s so as not to clash with Remembrance Day. It's just a harvest festival with none of the pilgrim mythology of the US version. The food is the same though (at least in my family).

Yes but imagine how funny it would be if an actual dumb asshole fell victim to the same quote-reply mishap that you have. Let's at least leave the cropping behaviour as is until that happens

So interesting that gaming interfaces have become so ubiquitous and widely understood that what I assume essentially a remote control for an aeroplane media screen has an ABXY diamond...or maybe it's just repurposed stock from what was an actual gaming handheld?
