(1/2) Why therapists should provide culturally-responsive care for their clients ⬇️
Conversations about racism and oppression in therapy can feel uncomfortable - but they’re essential. Cultural identity can shape how clients experience trauma and how they engage in treatment.

We also want to spotlight @bwf.bsky.social and Gavin Farrell Foundation for making our PTSD Learning Communities possible. Your support expands access to evidence-based PTSD treatment for those who need it most. ❤️‍🩹

(3/4) That's what makes Lethal Means Safety counseling so valuable - it puts both psychological and physical distance between a person suffering from suicidal pain and their given means of suicidal behavior.
This distance creates a crucial window of time and may help save a life.
strongstartraining.bsky.social
(2/4) According to research, those who attempt suicide typically have a “preferred” method for enacting suicidal behavior and will NOT substitute one method for another.

So If someone's chosen method is “restricted,” the person is actually less likely to attempt suicide.

(1/4) “If someone is going to kill themselves, they’ll find a way to do it.”

Many of us have heard a version of this statement before. But did you know this statement is actually statistically inaccurate? ❌
An informational graphic about Suicide Prevention Month featuring a "Myth vs. Reality" section. The myth states: "If someone is going to kill themselves, they'll find a way to do it." The reality counteracts: "Increasing the time and distance between someone with suicidal thoughts and lethal means can reduce suicide risk." The graphic includes a reminder that help is available with a prompt to call, text, or chat 988. The image has a serene blue backdrop with white and teal text, and an overlay of a blurred photo showing a person purchasing a firearm.

Behind every number is a friend, a parent, a colleague, or a neighbor - someone in need of hope and support. 🎗️
