New York City, Dec. 20  — Activists denounced Trump's attacks on Venezuela today in a protest at the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier docked on the Hudson River in Manhattan. The Saturday afternoon action was initiated by the newly formed RESO Resistance Solidarity and was supported by the Puerto Rican Independence Party and the December 12th Movement. RESO declared that "the recent murderous attacks by the U.S.

Dec. 20 — Intense fighting has again erupted along the roughly 500-mile border between Thailand and Cambodia, marking the second major outbreak of hostilities between the two countries in 2025. Since February, clashes between the two armies have become increasingly frequent, first escalating into full-scale combat on July 24. That round of fighting lasted four days and included air strikes, artillery exchanges, and sustained small-arms fire across the border.

It’s no secret that Trump’s attack on immigrants threatens all workers and their right to organize for better working conditions. Bob Reiter, president of the Chicago Federation of Labor, said Border Patrol agents questioned striking laborers on Chicago's Southwest Side and accused ICE Commander Gregory Bovino of “coming to our picket line to chill union activity.” ICE Commander Bovino often appears as the public face of Trump’s deportation campaign.

Unions and community organizations demonstrated at the Port of Oakland on Dec. 18 as part of an ongoing campaign to demand an embargo on the shipment of weapons to Israel from both the city’s sea port and air port (OAK). The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), in coordination with The People’s Embargo for Palestine (PEP), released a report titled “Exposing Oakland’s Military Cargo Shipments to Israel” last August.

Baltimore, Dec. 17 – Today, an older woman was hit by a speeding Baltimore City cop. This reckless violence happened right by the Lexington Market subway station. People around the area who watched the accident say the woman was sent sliding across the street.  The community quickly rushed to aid her, but were met by armed police pushing them away.  The cops attempted to put up crime scene tape to separate the people from the older woman. 

Dec. 18 — On a Wednesday night, with just hours’ notice, Donald Trump seized the airwaves for an 18-minute primetime address. Major networks cut away from scheduled programming — including the live finale of Survivor. Speculation spread across media and political circles about what could justify such an abrupt interruption. Some wondered if it signaled a major policy shift or even a declaration of war on Venezuela.

On Dec. 16, the Trump administration announced a "total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers going into, and out of, Venezuela." This act of war represents a major escalation in Washington's campaign to overthrow the government of President Nicolás Maduro and seize control of Venezuela's vast oil reserves and other natural resources. In his announcement on social media, Trump declared that Venezuela is "completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled in the History of South America," threatening that "it will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before."

Dec. 17 — After a five-day hiatus and more than two weeks since the elections, the Honduran National Electoral Council (CNE) has resumed counting votes in an electoral process that has been widely questioned by various political forces on the left and right in Honduras. At a Pentagon meeting on Dec. 10, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and his counterparts from Australia and Britain pledged to move “full steam ahead” with AUKUS, a trilateral military pact through which the United States is turning Australia into a forward operating base and nuclear-submarine hub for a potential war on China. In a joint statement, the three governments made clear the pact is about accelerating war preparations — building bases faster, expanding military staffing and pushing weapons development at full speed.

When the White House quietly approved renewed exports of Nvidia’s H200 AI accelerators to China — with a 25% fee attached — it marked more than a policy adjustment. It marked the effective collapse of Washington’s semiconductor containment strategy.  After years of escalating export controls, sanctions, and alliance pressure, the United States is now conceding what the chip war made clear: China cannot be technologically frozen, and U.S.

Baltimore, Dec. 13 — Activists shifted the spotlight from the pageantry of the Army–Navy game, using Donald Trump’s attendance as a platform to center a powerful demand: “No war on Venezuela.” Hundreds lined the streets outside the stadium where Trump was scheduled to appear, unfurling banners that read, “No war on Venezuela and Palestine” and “No to ICE — Money for jobs, education, and health care.”

Kenner, Louisiana, Dec. 13 – Around 75 people rallied for immigrants’ rights along busy Williams Boulevard in Kenner. This Jefferson Parish town is about 30% Latine and has become a focal point of Donald Trump’s ICE invasion.  The diverse crowd stayed out for over two hours. Youth played a prominent role, often leading chants and keeping the energy up. One of the most popular chants was simple and direct: “!ICE fuera!” or “ICE out!” The response from passing drivers was overwhelmingly positive. 

Trump and the Kennedy Center Honors With all the other crises going on, it may seem silly to even pause and think about President Donald Trump hosting the Kennedy Center Honors on Dec. 2. But the fact that this happened tells us a few things.  One is that the U.S. government’s authoritarianism is deepening: The executive branch – Trump – is trying to directly interfere in popular culture, even in a capricious and personal way (though always in the service of rich elites).

Caracas, Venezuela — From Dec. 9-11, Venezuela hosted the Assembly of the Peoples for Sovereignty and Peace of Our America. The gathering aimed to reshape government structures to more directly reflect the will of the Venezuelan people. Central to the Assembly were the communes — organizations designed to place production under the control and direction of workers themselves. The communes evolved from the co-operatives that existed from roughly 2006 to 2008.

An emergency news conference was held on Dec. 10 at the International Action Center in New York City to protest the latest war moves against Venezuela. The same day, in an act of piracy, U.S. armed forces seized a Venezuelan oil tanker. Speakers at the news conference denounced the Trump regime's attempted sabotage of the People's Assembly for Sovereignty and Peace in Our America.

The execution of defenseless survivors in the water is a blatant war crime. This deliberate killing of shipwrecked people — and the killing of over 80 people assassinated by drone, since none of them were a result of an armed conflict — the killing of defenseless civilians is murder under U.S.

Caracas, Venezuela, Dec. 12 — Yesterday, President Nicolás Maduro visited the Amalivaca Socialist Commune, one of the Communal projects of the Bolivarian Revolution, which are part of the process providing participation and self-determination for communities in Venezuela.  The committees of these Communes directly connect to the government, which supplies resources for production projects that are self-sustaining and under the leadership of the workers who decide how the surplus value created is divided and invested in the Communes and honor the taxes for the nation.

Frackville, Pennsylvania, Dec. 9 — Mumia says it’s about love. What else could have given 17 people the passion to hike 103 miles for 12 days across Pennsylvania, from Philadelphia to the Mahanoy prison in Frackville? They arrived on Dec. 9, marking 44 years since December 1981, when Black Panther journalist Mumia Abu-Jamal was framed for the murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner.

Baltimore — On Dec. 5, Reverend Dr. Robert Turner of Empowerment Temple led his 39th monthly March for Reparations. The march, which Rev. Turner calls “40 for 40,” covered more than 40 miles, symbolizing the 40 acres promised to Black people through the famous Field Order 15 of 1865.  The December march was in memory of Isabel Wall, who in 1910 was denied the ability to attend a school because she was 1/16th Black. 

On Dec. 10, the fascist Trump carried out an act of outright piracy, seizing a Venezuelan oil tanker in that country’s own coastal waters. The ship was carrying crude bound for Cuba — two nations Washington has tried to strangle for decades.  Trump bragged about the operation, calling it the “largest” tanker ever taken and adding, “we keep it, I guess.” That is the voice of a government that believes it can plunder at will.
