Great story by my colleagues on the constant political realignment of Grok, the generative AI chatbot over on the other site.

This change to Grok’s answer about the greatest threat to Western civilization is particularly ironic/meta.

Grok used to say that misinformation and disinformation were greatest threat to Western civilization. Elon Musk changed the answer to something more in line with his personal views: “demographic collapse.”

My colleagues and I tested different versions of Grok released since May to pinpoint how Musk has pushed the chatbot to the right www.nytimes.com/2025/09/02/t...

I've spent years following a right-wing influencer who's made a career out of outrage. I wanted to understand why he does it. What does his career look like, his income? Here's what I found. GIFT LINK www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/t...

i think it would make some people feel better about society, but society would probably get worse while you look the other way

i did get into it, just not on the very first mention which is in the intro and obliquely, which was the question posed above. to my eyes the reasons why he used the photo is clear in referencing his interest in stoking outrage and commentary.

it's one of those things that if you get into it a little, you need to get into it a lot. bc of the way he talked about it, i wanted to include it in a section about Griner because he felt attacked by the media who didn't consider him a real person, yet does the same thing constantly.
